Filter Element Functions and Applications:

 Function: Coalescing and separation. This is its core function.

1. Coalescing: A special internal coalescing layer captures extremely tiny water droplets dispersed in the oil and aggregates them into larger droplets.

2. Separating: The aggregated droplets separate from the oil due to their gravity difference and settle to the bottom of the filter housing under gravity, where they are periodically discharged through the drain valve.

3. Filtration: The filter element also removes solid particulate impurities from the oil.

 Application Scenarios:

 Fuel System: A fuel prefilter/water separator used in diesel engines (especially marine, power generation, and automotive applications). It serves as a critical prefilter to protect injectors and high-pressure oil pumps.

 Lubricating Oil System: Used in gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and other applications to remove water from lubricating oil.

 Filter Media: Typically made of specialized glass fiber or polymer composite, specially treated to impart excellent hydrophilic/oleophobic properties for efficient water droplet capture.

 Structure: Multi-layer composite structure, typically including a pre-filtration layer, a coalescing layer, and a drainage layer. Metal end caps and a central tube provide a robust structure.

 Filtration Rating: Filtration ratings can range from 5μm to 15μm, effectively removing micron-sized water and particles.
